Getting Connected

Don't be left in the dark by waiting until the last minute to change your services. Follow these steps to be on the safe side.
 
DISCONTINUE CURRENT PHONE SERVICE
Have your old line "turned off" the day after moving day.
Have calls forwarded to your new number.

SET UP NEW PHONE SERVICE
Get your new local number. Consider ordering an extra line if you want to connect a fax machine or computer modem. You'll also need to make a decision about a variety of other telecommunications services that phone companies provide.

Call Forwarding
Voice Mail
Additional Line
High Speed Line (DSL/ISDN)

SIGN UP FOR LONG DISTANCE
The long distance company you choose will notify your local phone service for you. You'll need to already have your new local number so the long distance carrier can arrange for your new service.

CHECK WITH YOUR NEW COMMUNITY
About the connections you'll need to START yourself and those they'll arrange for you.

Cable/satellite
Internet Access
